Reducing Parental Conflict programme

This programme aims to support parents to learn how to resolve conflict better so that they can improve outcomes for their children. Parents can be either living together, separated or divorced, and children can be of any age from birth through to teens.

The programme uses videos and activities to guide parents through 3 courses. Each course is anonymous and takes between 30 to 40 minutes to complete. You can complete them on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop in your time and whenever is most convenient to you.

Watch the video below to see children talking about their experiences of parental conflict.

Background

There is strong evidence that conflict between parents – whether together or separated – can have a significant negative impact on children’s mental health and long-term life chances. Not all conflict is damaging, but where this is frequent, intense and poorly resolved it can harm children’s outcomes.

The Reducing Parental Conflict programme is aimed at conflict below the threshold of domestic abuse. Find out more about the difference between parental conflict and domestic abuse on GOV.UK
