Waymead short term care

Waymead is a place where people with learning disabilities who live at home with their main carer can come for a short stay, in order for their carer to get a break.

It is a recently refurbished building with 5 en suite bedrooms all on the ground floor. Many pieces of specialist equipment enable us to support people with a diverse range of needs.

People can stay from one night, a weekend, a few days, or up to a week or two by special arrangement.

We provide supported breaks for individuals away from Waymead too, at places such as holiday parks, cottages or even camping holidays.

We can also provide unplanned emergency stays if needed.

We work closely with you, your carer and other people who are important to you to make sure your time with us is as enjoyable as possible.

Before you come to Waymead

You will be invited to visit with your family to see what we do and what Waymead is like.

The staff will talk to you and your family to find out what you like and don’t like. This is so that we can make your time at Waymead enjoyable.

You can choose who your key worker will be where possible.

A manager will visit you at home to introduce themselves to you and your family. They will also do an assessment of what you need and like.
