We would like to wish all our residents from the Jewish faith a happy Passover or Chag Sameach!

Passover (or Pesach in Hebrew) is one of the most important festivals in the Jewish calendar. This year, Passover begins on the evening of Monday 22 April and will finish on the evening of Tuesday 30 April.

The origins of Passover come from a spring festival celebrating the first grain harvest and the birth of the first lambs of the season. However, Passover also relates to how Jewish people left slavery behind when Moses led them out of Egypt more than 3,000 years ago.

The celebrations begin at sundown on the first day of Passover, when a special meal called Seder is eaten at home with family and friends. Symbolic food is eaten, including matzoh (unleavened bread), and synagogue services are also held.
