Parking for disabled people

Parking in residential streets

We can provide parking bays for disabled people in residential streets if they meet certain eligibility criteria.

These bays are only for vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge. A bay cannot be reserved for an individual.

If you are considering applying for disabled parking bay, you should:

  • not already have accessible on plot parking available
  • frequently use a vehicle registered at the address
  • have a valid Blue Badge

You should also qualify for the higher rate mobility component of the disability living allowance. If you are over 65 and not in receipt of the higher rate then an alternative assessment will be made.

In addition, a needs assessment will be carried out based on the information you provide and a medical questionnaire.

On street disabled parking bays cannot be provided where they might result in a road safety problem.

Disabled bays no longer in use

If you believe that a nearby disabled parking bay is no longer being used by local residents, then please contact the Highways and Transport team by emailing: highways.transport@bracknell-forest.gov.uk.

All of the on-street disabled parking bays within Bracknell borough are contained within a legal order, so a short consultation exercise will be undertaken within the immediate vicinity of the bay to make sure that the bay is not still required by any local resident.

If it is not needed, the markings and sign will be removed and the bay will revert to general use.

Public parking spaces for disabled people

There are spaces for Blue Badge holders in many of the borough's car parks. There are no free concessions for Blue Badge holders in any of our charging car parks.

There are also free, on-street disabled parking bays for blue badge holders. Two are at Time Square and 3 are by the police station.

Blue Badge holders are reminded to park in line with the guidance issued with the badge. Please make sure that your badge and clock are displayed correctly when required.
