Fly tipping is the illegal dumping of any waste or rubbish anywhere other than at a licensed waste disposal site.
The council can only clear fly tip where it is found on council owned or managed land. All reports of fly tipping are investigated.
All land owners have a responsibility to deter fly tipping. Protect your land, access and gateways.
How to report
Please do not put yourself in any danger, but where possible when you witness fly tipping make a note of what you see and use our online form to report the incident.

How to dispose of waste legally
Anyone producing waste has a duty of care to make sure it is disposed of without endangering health or harming the environment. This applies to any type of waste that is unsuitable for disposal in a wheeled bin and unable to be taken as part of household waste collections.
Residents can dispose of larger household items using our chargeable bulky household collection. You can also take rubbish to the recycling centre.
Alternatively, any licensed waste carrier can remove waste or you can hire a skip privately. You can find out if a trader is a licensed waste carrier by checking the public registers online or by calling the Environment Agency on 0870 8506 506.
Skipandbin.com is a useful price comparison site. It's a free and impartial service, giving 'live' prices from licensed skip companies operating in the local area.
Local small businesses can organise a waste collection from a private licensed waste collection company or open a trade account at Longshot Lane Waste Transfer Station.

If evidence suggests that supermarkets are no longer working in the best interests of the community by failing to collect their abandoned trolleys, the council will take this up with store management. We will also intervene if the location of a trolley suggests an imminent risk to public safety.
If you find a trolley that is a safety hazard and has no identification at all, report this as dumped rubbish using our street cleaning form.
